The holiday season is fast approaching, and those of you who exchange gifts may be wondering what to get that special runner (or runners) in your life. Here is are some ideas for holiday gifts ideas that anybody who enjoys running would love to receive:
Hatlamp
With daylight savings time over the shortest day of the year approaching, most runners are running in the dark at least some of the time. Headlamps can be heavy and bulky. instead look for a “Hatlamp” — a running hat with built-in LED in lights like this one by PowerCap.
Medal Hanger
Whether they admits it or not, most runners enjoy collecting race medals. Alas, many medals find their way into a shoe box, or on the back of a door. Why not give them a medal hanger that matches their personality so they can display their race bling with pride?
Yurbuds
Many runners enjoy listening to music or podcasts, especially when they run alone. However, there is nothing more frustrating than a pair of ill-fitting earphones. With an ergonomic design and twist-in fit, Yurbuds offer a secure fit, while delivering high quality sound.
Fuel
Anybody training for a half marathon or longer will need to carry nutrition on their long runs. What makes gels and electrolyte tabs ideal to carry on long runs—their compact size—also makes them a perfect stocking stuffer. Two of my favourites are Nuun tabs and Clif Shot Blocks.
Race Entry Fee
Who doesn’t love the extra motivation of having a race on their calendar? Offer to sign your runner dad up for a local 5K, 10K, half-marathon or marathon. But to make sure that there are not any scheduling conflicts, make this an IOU gift and don’t register them for a race without them knowing.
