I think I’ve created a marathon monster. I haven’t even completed my first full marathon yet, and I just signed up for a second! Registration opened this afternoon for the BMO Vancouver Marathon—taking place on May 4, 2014—and I was one of the first hundred or so people to sign up.
My rational side asked me to wait until after I finish to Victoria Goodlife Fitness Marathon next month to be sure I enjoyed it enough to consider doing another. After all, the price is the same and the chances of it selling out over the next 26 days are very slim. On the other side was my marathon monster. He was yelling “Why Wait?!?” You know you want to run it, and it will give you motivation to keep training over the winter! The monster in me won, and I registered!
This now makes two ‘early bird registrations’ for races taking place next year. Last week I signed up for the Sunshine Coast April Fool’s Run Half Marathon on April 6, 2014. You can check out all my upcoming running events on my race schedule page.
Note that the title of this post should not be confused with the Marathon Maniacs—an official club of people who run multiple marathons in a short period of time—sometimes over the same weekend. I may be a monster, but I’m nowhere near being a maniac… yet.
