Dundarave Pier (aka 'Around the Globe') Long Run Redux

Dundarave Pier and Back (aka ‘Around the Globe’) Long Run Redux

This was my second time running this route.  The first time (on August 24th), I was more worried about getting over the bridge than I was about the distance—which was my longest to date at that time. Today, the bridge didn’t bother me as much. Although I was still uncomfortable, I had no problem getting over and back. The rest of the run was pretty good, but I noticed the hill on the Bridle Path trail through Stanley Park a lot more.

Like last time, I ran the first 25K at my LSD/Zone 2 pace, and picked it up to my projected marathon race pace over the last 5K. At the end, I felt had enough left in the tank for another 12K, which bodes well for my upcoming marathon! I ended up running it a few minutes faster than last time, which isn’t too shabby, considering I ran 10K yesterday.

Next Week’s Run

The Vancouver Running and Jogging Club

This was my second to last long run before tapering for the October 13th marathon. Next week, we are running 32K out to New Westminster (see route below). Our Running Group is being joined by the Vancouver Running and Jogging Club (VanRun), so there will be a large group out. Feel feel to join us if you live in Vancouver. We’re meeting at the Cambie St Running Room (2317 Cambie St) at 8:30 and ending at the Paddle Wheel Pub in New West for burgers and beer before taking the Skytrain back. Give me a shout if you want more info.
